Jockey to Hospital After Cheltenham Fall

Experienced amateur jockey Tom Weston was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, England, after his mount Benbane Head fell during a jumps race on the March 12 St. Patrick's Day card at Cheltenham Racecourse.

 

Weston was attended on the course by doctors and medical personnel, and then was taken to Cheltenham's medical center before being airlifted to hospital. A track release he was breathing and conscious at the time.

The fall occurred during the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Handicap Chase.

 

The extent of any injuries were not disclosed, with further information to be issued by the Injured Jockeys' Fund, probably Friday morning, the track said.
