My Girl Red returns from her victory in the 2020 Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar

Last summer's Sorrento Stakes (G2) winner My Girl Red  is slated to make her seasonal bow April 2 in the $150,000 Beaumont Stakes Presented by Keeneland Select (G3), a seven-furlong sprint for sophomore fillies at Keeneland.

"We're excited about getting her back into action," trainer Keith Desormeaux said. "It's been a long time coming. We were excited last year after her big win. She just had a couple of issues that required us to give her some time, but she's been training great, and we're looking forward to a big year."

The Texas Red   daughter owned and bred by Erich Brehm won her first two outings last summer in Southern California, topped by her frontrunning, 4 3/4-length Sorrento victory at Del Mar. She has not raced since the Sept. 6 Del Mar Debutante (G1), in which she was bumped out of the gate when eventual race winner Princess Noor  came in at the break and was pulled up early before walking off the track.

My Girl Red, by Desormeaux's 2014 Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) winner, breezed five furlongs in 1:00 1/5 March 27 at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, where she has worked consistently since mid-February. She'll break from the rail Friday with James Graham in the irons.

"She hasn't missed any works, the times have been more than acceptable, and the number of works I have in her seems to be enough to tell me that she'll be formidable even in her first race back," Desormeaux said.

The trainer said he hopes later this season to send My Girl Red to longer distances than the Beaumont, which takes place one day ahead of the Central Bank Ashland Stakes (G1) for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles.

"The owners and I discussed what would be the best race to bring her back. Coming off of a six-month layoff, it seemed more wise to give her a sprint in a lesser level of company before we booked grade 1 horses at a distance," he said. "That's why we chose this race instead of the Ashland. We would have loved to have been part of the Ashland because we believe My Girl Red is going to be even better when she stretches out, but it seemed like the right decision to give her a race before we stretch her out."

G. Watts Humphrey Jr.'s homebred Farsighted  has returned from South Florida to trainer Rusty Arnold's Keeneland base, where she worked a half-mile in :48 4/5 March 29. The Bernardini   filly comes into the Beaumont off a 4 1/4-length victory in the March 6 Any Limit Stakes, run at six furlongs on a sloppy track at Gulfstream Park. Julien Leparoux is scheduled to ride from post 3.

Trainer Wesley Ward has Twenty Carat , owned and bred by Three Chimneys Farm, entered for her stakes debut. The Into Mischief   filly crossed the wire first in both of her starts at Turfway Park, but was disqualified to second in her Jan. 15 debut for interference. She returned Feb. 25 to break her maiden by 7 3/4 lengths. Both races were at 6 1/2 furlongs. Twenty Carat worked three times at Keeneland throughout March, most recently five furlongs in :59 4/5 March 27. Luis Saez has the mount from the outside post 7.

Slumber Party , a 7 1/2-length debut winner Jan. 24 at Gulfstream, Amalfi Princess , Forward Gal (G3) runner-up Lady Traveler , and Cilla  complete the field.
