Daughters of two extraordinary racemares in Treve and Goldikova will face one another when lining up in the Prix Parade d'Amour at Saint-Cloud April 6.
Andre Fabre's loftily-named Paris, a daughter of Haras de Bouquetot's Shalaa and the dual Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) heroine Treve, will race in the Al Shaqab colors, while the Carlos Laffon-Parias-trained Goldistyle is a homebred of Wertheimer et Frère.
Treve was trained by Criquette Head originally for her family's Haras du Quesnay, who bred her out of the winning Anabaa mare Trevise. She won her sole start at 2 and landed the Prix de Diane Longines (French Oaks, G1) by four lengths over Chicquita before taking the colors of Al Shaqab and winning the Qatar Prix Vermeille (G1) and her first Arc.
At 4, the daughter of Vodafone Epsom Derby (G1) and Racing Post Trophy (G1) winner Motivator finished second to Cirrus des Aigles and third to The Fugue in the Prix Ganay (G1) and Prince of Wales's Stakes (G1). After a fourth in the Vermeille, Treve bounced back to form with an authoritative success over Flintshire in her second Arc.
She won the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (G1) and Vermeille at 5 before finishing her career when fourth behind Golden Horn in the 2015 Arc.
Treve's first foal, a colt by Dubawi named Qous, has won for the same connections and Paris is her second offspring. She has a 2-year-old Siyouni filly named Kaltham with Jean-Claude Rouget, while she produced another filly last year, this time by Sea The Stars .
Goldikova sadly passed away in January this year but her Dubawi daughter, Goldistyle, will bid to maintain her dam's honor in the mile contest.
Goldikova, a daughter of Haras du Quesnay's Anabaa and the Blushing Groom mare Born Gold, was a Wertheimer homebred and over her five-year racing career notched up 14 top-level wins including triumphs in three Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T) contests and four Prix Rothschilds (G1).
Hailing from a golden era for fillies in France, which also included Zarkava and Natagora , she left behind seven progeny including Terrakova , a group 3-winning daughter of Galileo who was also third in the Prix de Diane before injury struck. Her last is a 2-year-old Galileo colt named Lehman, also with Laffon-Parias.
Terrakova has a 2-year-old daughter by Lope de Vega called Mirakova in training with Fabre and a yearling son by Dubawi named Kovanof.
