After a 4-year-old season in which he earned more than $1 million, By My Standards  is scheduled to make his 5-year-old season debut April 10 in the $400,000 Oaklawn Mile Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

Trainer Bret Calhoun will not ease By My Standards into the 2021 season, as the multiple grade 2 winner will face a graded stakes quality field in Saturday's test that has drawn nine older horses, including grade 1-placed grade 2 stakes winner Rushie  and last year's TwinSpires.com Louisiana Derby winner (G2) Wells Bayou .

Of course the 2019 Louisiana Derby winner is By My Standards, who added three more grade 2 wins last year in the New Orleans Classic Stakes (G2) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, the Oaklawn Handicap (G2), and the Alysheba Stakes Presented by Sentient Jet (G2) at Churchill Downs. In between the Oaklawn Handicap and the Alysheba, By My Standards finished second to Tom's d'Etat   in the Stephen Foster Stakes (G2) and second to Improbable   in the Whitney Stakes (G1).

By My Standards has picked up a co-owner in Spendthrift Farm, which joins original owner Chester Thomas of Allied Racing Stable.

The Oaklawn Mile also will mark the seasonal debut of Rushie, who, like By My Standards, has a victory in his lone previous start at Oaklawn. Campaigned by Jim and Donna Daniell, Rushie won an allowance optional claiming race at Oaklawn last May before finishing third in both the Runhappy Santa Anita Derby (G1) and Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G2).

Trained by Michael McCarthy, Rushie won the Pat Day Mile Stakes Presented by LG and E and KU (G2) at Churchill before finishing seventh in the Big Ass Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Keeneland. Rushie will enter Saturday's test off a series of swift workouts, including bullet moves March 20 (four furlongs, :46) and March 27 (five furlongs, :59) at Santa Anita Park.

Wells Bayou, campaigned by Clint and Lance Gasaway, Madaket Stables, and Wonder Stables, will make his second start of the season after finishing third as the favorite in the Louisiana Stakes (G3) Jan. 16 at Fair Grounds. In that effort, the 4-year-old son of Lookin At Lucky   was bumped at the break and raced three wide before finishing behind Title Ready  and Blackberry Wine . The latter is entered in Saturday's test off a recent allowance-level win at Oaklawn.

Brad Cox trains Wells Bayou and the champion conditioner also has entered Shortleaf Stable's The Sound , who scored a front-end allowance-level win Jan. 29 at Oaklawn. The Sound, by Hard Spun  , will make his stakes debut off an unplaced effort in a March 11 allowance optional claimer at Oaklawn.
