Two horses that excelled in the Middle East this winter—Mishriff and Mystic Guide —share the top spot with a rating of 122 in the second edition of the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings for 2021.
They are just ahead of Eduardo and Nature Strip at 121, followed by five horses tied in fifth at 120, a group that includes Americans Charlatan and Life Is Good . Life Is Good, currently sidelined, is the only 3-year-old ranked among the leaders.

Prince Faisal's Mishriff, who was already at the top of the rankings following his victory in the Saudi Cup, switched back to turf and won the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic Presented By Longines (G1T) at Meydan in his latest start. Godolphin's Mystic Guide, meanwhile, took the Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline (G1) by 3 3/4 lengths. Earlier this year, he won the Razorback Handicap (G3) by six lengths at Oaklawn Park to begin his 2021 campaign.
Besides Mystic Guide, Charlatan, and Life Is Good, other American-trained horses that were assigned ratings among the leaders were Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes (G1T) winner Colonel Liam (118) and Beholder Mile Stakes (G1) winner Swiss Skydiver (118).
The Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings are compiled by the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings Committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.
