Blazing Meadows Farm and Siena Farm's Dayoutoftheoffice , unraced since a runner-up in the Nov. 6 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Keeneland, took a step toward returning to the races April 15 by working five furlongs at Keeneland in 1:01 2/5 over a good track.
"It was uneventful and good," trainer Tim Hamm said of the work. "I got her in '12s' all the way around."
Clockers timed the daughter of Into Mischief galloping out six furlongs in 1:14 and seven-eighths in 1:28.
Hamm is targeting the seven-furlong, $300,000 Eight Belles Stakes Presented by Smithfield (G2) April 30 at Churchill Downs as the starting point for her 2021 campaign. She was given a break in her training this winter and fell too far behind schedule for the 1 1/8-mile Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1), also at Churchill April 30.
"She will have one more work and it will be here or Churchill Downs," Hamm said of her Eight Belles preparation.
Last year as a 2-year-old, Dayoutoftheoffice won the first three starts of her career, including the Frizette Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park, before she was caught in the Juvenile Fillies by Vequist , the champion 2-year-old filly of last year.
Of the seven fillies that raced in the Juvenile Fillies, only Crazy Beautiful (sixth) is expected to contest the Kentucky Oaks, the most prestigious race for 3-year-old fillies in North America.
