The Not This Time colt consigned as Hip 925 breezes a quarter-mile in :20 3/5 during the April 16 session of OBS Spring under tack show

Five fillies shared the fastest one-furlong time of :09 4/5 during the fifth under-tack session April 16 that precedes the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale. Two males were co-fastest over a quarter-mile timed in :20 3/5.

One more day of the breezes remains April 17 before the largest juvenile auction in the world gets underway April 20-23.

The aforementioned colts differ in appearance, with Hip 925 being a bay by Not This Time   and Hip 996 a gray son of Valiant Minister  .

Hip 925 is out of In a Jif , an Indiana-bred Saintly Look  mare who captured the Holiday Inaugural Stakes at Turfway Park vs. open company in 2014. The dam, related to two other black-type horses, has one other foal of racing age in Stoked  (Orb  ), who has placed in one of seven starts with earnings of $4,631.

Not This Time, who stands for $40,000 at Taylor Made Stallions in Kentucky, was the third-ranked first-crop sire of 2020 and is ranked second this year among second-crop stallions.

Hip 996 doesn't have black type in the first two dams of his pedigree, but farther within his family are Canadian champions Apelia  and Saoirse . His dam, the Unbridled's Song mare La Nonna , placed in one of eight races and retired with earnings of $4,705.

Valiant Minister, another gray, stands at Bridlewood Farm in Florida for $3,000. By Candy Ride  , Valiant Minister won his only start for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert in 2017. He entered stud in 2018.

Pick View consigns Hip 925, while S G V Thoroughbreds consigns Hip 996.

The five that shared the fastest eighth of :09 4/5 are:

  • Hip 866, consigned by Off the Hook, is a dark bay or brown filly by Temple City   out of Grande Mocha  (Grand Slam). Her third dam, Golden Symphony  (Mr. Prospector), is a full sister to graded stakes winner Golden Sonata .
  • Hip 889, consigned by Bobby Dodd, is a bay filly by Outwork   out of the Stormy Atlantic   mare Hatteras . Her second dam is Summer Wind Dancer  (Siberian Summer ), a graded stakes winner of more than $898,000.
  • Hip 917, consigned by Scanlon Training & Sales, is a dark bay or brown filly by Uncaptured  out of Hug Me Tight (With Distinction ). Hug Me Tight is a half sister to grade 3-winning sprinter Wall Street Wonder .
  • Hip 955, consigned by Julie Davies, is a chestnut filly by Practical Joke   out of the Greatness   mare Jenny's So Great . The latter was a multiple stakes winner at Woodbine who captured the Royal North Stakes (G3T) in her career highlight.
  • Hip 975, consigned by S G V Thoroughbreds, is a dark bay or brown filly by Fury Kapcori   out of the unplaced With Distinction  mare Kiana Believes . The dam is a half sister to the stakes-placed Houngun .

The under tack show continues Saturday at 8 a.m. ET with Hips 1015-1271 set to breeze.
