Description:
Tattersalls sale company has agreed to extend its sponsorship of the Irish Two Thousand Guineas and Irish One Thousand Guineas (both Ire-I) at the Curragh as well as the Tattersalls Gold Cup (Ire-I) from 2015 to 2017, the racecourse announced March 16.

The three races are set to run May 23-24, with the weekend rebranded as the Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival.

"The Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival promises to be one of the highlights of the European racing calendar," Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said. "To sponsor two classics and one of Europe's premier 10-furlong races over two days demonstrates the Tattersalls commitment to Irish racing and reflects the support we receive at our sales from all sectors of the Irish racing and breeding industry."

Tattersalls also agreed to contribute additional resources to raise purse money for the Tattersalls Gold Cup from €210,000 to €250,000, with the objective of attracting the top middle-distance horses in Europe. The first entry stage for the race closes March 18.
