Bal Mar Equine's multiple stakes winner Dalika leads a field of 10 fillies and mares that were entered in the May 22, $110,000 Keertana Overnight Stakes, run at 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Churchill Downs.
Trained by Al Stall Jr., Dalika has six victories in her 20-start résumé with solid purse earnings of $404,005. In her last victory three starts back, the 5-year-old Pastorius mare won the Feb. 13 Albert M. Stall Memorial Stakes run at 1 1/16 miles at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, named in memory of Stall Jr.'s father. Last out she finished fifth in the April 23 Bewitch Stakes (G3T) at Keeneland after racing third for most of the race run at the Keertana distance.
Las season Dalika won her first stakes in the one-mile-and-seventy-yard One Dreamer Stakes at Kentucky Downs and also took the 1 1/16-mile Blushing K. D. Stakes at Fair Grounds.
Also returning from the Bewitch are Delta's Kingdom , who finished second after racing mid-pack; Pass the Plate , who rallied from 10th to finish third; and Cambeliza , who faded from off the pace to finish last.
The Keertana also includes last out allowance winner First Course . The 4-year-old Curlin filly won April 22 at Keeneland while racing 12 furlongs on the turf. The Keertana will be her first stakes start.
