Going Global wins the Providencia Stakes at Santa Anita Park

Since Going Global  has gone international, there's been no stopping her.

Since starting her United States racing career in February, the 3-year-old daughter of Mehmas  has reeled off a trio of turf wins, all in stakes company at increasingly longer distances, and will try to make it four in a row May 22 when she tops a field of seven in the $100,000 Honeymoon Stakes (G3T) for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita Park.

Owned by CYBT, Michael Dubb, Saul Gevertz, Michael Nentwig, and Ray Pagano, Going Global is coming off a neck win in the April 3 Providencia Stakes (G3T) at The Great Race Place for trainer Phil D'Amato in the 1 1/8-mile stakes at the same distance as Saturday's test.

Prior to that, she won the China Doll Stakes at one mile and the Feb. 14 Sweet Life Stakes (G3T) at six furlongs in her U.S. debut.

"Going Global proved last time a mile and an eighth wasn't a problem," said D'Amato. "I gave her a bit of a freshening after three stakes wins in a row so I could have her ready for this race going into Del Mar."

Out of the Invasor  mare Wrood, she also won her final race in Ireland for trainer Mick Halford to give her four straight wins overall.

A winner of four of seven starts, she has earned $188,792 since being bought for $16,988 by Pioneer Racing from The Castlebridge Consignment at the 2019 Goffs Sportsman's Yearling Sale.

Kaleem Shah's Madone  figures to be the main rival off a victory in the May 1 Senorita Stakes (G3T) at one mile at Santa Anita. The daughter of Vancouver  has won four of her five career starts for trainer Simon Callaghan. The lone blemish on her record was understandable, coming in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) when she was eighth in her final race at 2.

She was bought for $125,000 by KSI from Kirkwood Stables consignment at the 2020 Ocala Breeders' Sales' March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training.

LNJ Foxwoods' Golden  was second at 29-1 in the Senorita, finishing a length behind Madone but was disqualified and placed sixth for interference. A homebred daughter of Tapit  , she was fifth in the China Doll before that for trainer Richard Mandella.

A week after winning the Preakness Stakes (G1) with Rombauer , trainer Michael McCarthy will send out Breeze Easy's Midnight Diva , who was last seen breaking her maiden by a nose in an April 25 nine-furlong race at Santa Anita.

It was the fifth start and first finish better than third for the daughter of Midnight Lute  .

Both D'Amato and Mandella will send out two starters with D'Amato also saddling Majestic Steps , who was moved up to fourth in the Senorita and was fourth in the Sweet Life as the favorite, and Mandella handling Pizzazz , who was 12th in the Sweet Life but won the California Oaks on a synthetic surface at Golden Gate Fields last time out.

The field also includes Quattroelle , who was fifth in the Providencia and third in the China Doll.
