Gary Barber's graded stakes winner Laura's Light races her preferred distance of a mile against six rivals in the $200,000 Ouija Board Distaff Stakes at Lone Star Park May 31.
The Peter Miller trainee won the San Clemente Stakes (G2T) at Del Mar last year at a mile and the one-mile Blue Norther Stakes at Santa Anita Park as a juvenile in 2019. The Constitution filly also captured an allowance optional claimer at Santa Anita at a mile May 2 last out to push her record at the distance to 3-1-0 in six turf starts.
The California invader is the even-money morning-line favorite under Florent Geroux and breaks from post 1.
Other stakes winners in the Ouija Board Distaff include Highlander Training Center's Summer in Saratoga , Glen Hill Farm's Summering , and Martin Schwartz's Raven's Cry .
Two of the three remaining entrants are stakes placed, led by Al Shaqab Racing's Tuned , runner-up in the My Charmer Stakes in December at Gulfstream Park and in an April 7 allowance race at Keeneland. The Graham Motion trainee carries 117 pounds, four fewer pounds. than Laura's Light and six less than three others. David Cohen rides.
The Ouija Board is one of five stakes on Memorial Day at Lone Star, culminating with the $400,000 Steve Sexton Mile Stakes (G3).
