Silver Smile wins her debut at Gulfstream Park

Expatriate freshman stallion Long Island Sound  sired his first winner June 3 when his daughter Silver Smile  won her debut in a five-furlong maiden claiming at Gulfstream Park.

Silver Smile was one of two Florida-bred debut maiden winners by freshman sires on the card bred and raced by Stonehedge and trained by Kathleen O'Connell. Stonehedge and O'Connell also won with Robbing Robin , the first winner for Ocala Stud's Greenpointcrusader  .

Long Island Sound is a son of War Front   out of Treasure Trail, a Pulpit half sister to multiple champion Zenyatta . He sold for $800,000 as a weanling at the 2013 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale and was raced by longtime partners Susan Magnier, Derrick Smith, Michael Tabor, and Joseph Allen. His four wins included the Paddy Power Diamond Stakes (G3) in Ireland and was runner-up in the Secretariat Stakes (G1T).

Long Island Sound entered stud in 2018 at Pleasant Acres Stallions near Ocala, Fla., and was then sent to Haras Abolengo in Argentina for the 2018 Southern Hemisphere breeding season and remained there.

Silver Smile is out of stakes winner Silver Cub , the dam of grade 1 winner Noted and Quoted . The mare also is a half sister to multiple stakes winners and stakes producers Silver Heart  and Aspenglow , who are full sisters by Lion Hearted. Silver Cub has a yearling filly by Cajun Breeze  and produced a filly by Khozan   Feb. 24.
