Merry Meadow Heads Inside Information

Merry Meadow, riding a three-race stakes winning streak will face six opponents in the $200,000 Inside Information Stakes (gr. II) March 21 at Gulfstream Park.

In the money in 23 of her 26 career starts, the 5-year-old daughter of Henny Hughes is coming off clear-cut victories in the Sky Beauty Stakes at Gulfstream Park West, as well as the grade III Sugar Swirl and Hurricane Bertie Stakes at Gulfstream.

Owned by William Parsons Jr. and David S. Howe, and trained by Mark Hennig, Merry Meadow will carry topweight of 121 pounds and will break from post 2 in the seven-furlong event under Javier Castellano.

A stalker in all her races, she likely will be sitting just off Go For Wand (gr. III) winner Classic Point, making her 2015 debut for Jimmy Jerkens, and the Todd Pletcher-trained Sweet Whiskey, fourth in the Go For Wand after setting the early fractions.

Classic Point, ridden by Paco Lopez, has won seven of her 30 career starts, including her last two. She indicated her sharpness by breezing a bullet half in :47 2/5 at Palm Meadows training center March 16.

Merry Meadow has also been extremely sharp in the morning, coming off a pair of :47 breezes at Gulfstream.

Sweet Whiskey, who also was entered in a six-furlong allowance/optional claimer March 19, has won only two of her 11 career starts, but won the Old Hat Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream last year and was second, beaten a half-length, in the Acorn Stakes (gr. I). She was also second in the grade II Raven Run and Beaumont Stakes, both at Keeneland.

Also entered are You Bought Her, winner of the Minaret Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in her last start; Centrique, fourth in the Hurricane Bertie last time out; Quiet Hour, who is coming off an impressive victory in an allowance/optional claimer at Gulfstream; and Best Behavior, winner of the Glass Slipper Stakes and second in two other stakes since being claimed by Marty Wolfson, but a dismal 10th in the recent Barbara Fritchie Handicap at Laurel Park.
