Jockey Victor Santiago notched his 1,000th win June 5, according to Equibase statistics for mainland United States and Canada, when he guided Darrell and Evelyn Yates' Tapalong  to victory at FanDuel Sportsbook and Horse Racing, formerly Fairmount Park.

Santiago also has one win from his native Puerto Rico, as noted by Equibase.

Tapalong, trained by Steve Manley, went straight to the front under Santiago in Saturday's sixth race, a six-furlong allowance optional claimer for fillies and mares. The 4-year-old daughter of Tapizar   strode out for a 4 1/2-length win in a final time of 1:11.75 on the fast main track.

Since 2008, Santiago has collected career earnings of $16,799,213. His top mounts include Yankee Fortune, who in 2010 he rode to victory in the Hawthorne Derby (G3T) at Hawthorne Race Course and the Commonwealth Turf Stakes (G3T) at Churchill Downs; and Raging Daoust , winner of the 2013 Salvatore Mile Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park.

Santiago has also won the 2016 Isaac Murphy Handicap at Arlington International Racecourse with Puntsville , and the Buck's Boy Handicap and Lightning Jet Handicap three weeks apart at Hawthorne with Goneghost  in November of 2017.

He currently leads the meet at FanDuel Sportsbook and Horse Racing by earnings with $51,036 through Saturday since the meet began May 29, and is tied with the most winners at four.
