Sconsin takes the Winning Colors Stakes at Churchill Downs

Lloyd Madison Farms IV's multiple graded stakes winner Sconsin  heads six fillies and mares entered in the $110,000 Roxelana Overnight Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs June 19 at Churchill Downs.

A 4-year-old homebred daughter of Include  , Sconsin won the Winning Colors Stakes (G3) locally four weeks ago. The Greg Foley trainee also finished second behind Gamine  in the May 1 Derby City Distaff Stakes Presented by Kendall-Jackson Winery (G1). She has a record of 4-3-1 from 12 starts with earnings of $546,512.

Sconsin has kept an active schedule this spring with Saturday's race marking her third start of the Churchill meet. This summer, her connections hope to run her in the $500,000 Ketel One Ballerina Handicap (G1) Aug. 28 at Saratoga Race Course.

"Churchill is home—we always prefer to run our horses out of their own stall and her track record here all made this race very attractive," Foley said. "We had a tentative summer plan for her by working backwards from the Ballerina and so far she's handled everything we've thrown at her with flying colors. The Roxelana is the final hurdle before we have to go on the road."

She is favored at even money on the morning line with leading rider Tyler Gaffalione up.

Also running is Lothenbach Stables' 2020 Derby City Distaff winner Bell's the One . Trained by Neil Pessin, Bell's the One is searching for the first victory of her 5-year-old campaign. She finished second behind Kimari  in the Madison Stakes (G1) at Keeneland in early April and fourth last out in this year's Derby City Distaff.

A closer, she appeared disadvantaged by an absence of pace in the May 1 Derby City Distaff and perhaps by having a month between races. Some of her better performances have come after more time between starts.

She ran third in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) last fall at Keeneland, just missing the place in a tight photo with Serengeti Empress , 6 1/4 lengths behind blowout winner Gamine.

The Majesticperfection  5-year-old mare, a two-time stakes winner at Churchill Downs, is the 7-5 second favorite on the morning line under Corey Lanerie.

The Roxelana also includes Whitham Thoroughbreds' multiple grade 3 winner Four Graces . Trained by Ian Wilkes, Four Graces recorded four victories through seven starts at age 3. The now 4-year-old, another daughter of Majesticperfection, will make her seasonal debut in the Roxelana after a seventh in the Oct. 17 Lexus Raven Run Stakes (G2) at Keeneland. Four Graces defeated Sconsin by 4 3/4 lengths last July in the Beaumont Stakes Presented by Keeneland Select (G3) there.

Shesomajestic Miss Mosaic , and Jungle Juice  complete the lineup.

Saturday's 6 1/2-furlong Roxelana is carded as Race 10 of 11 with a post time of 5:26 p.m. ET.
