The one-day 2020 sale offered 109 yearlings, 15 broodmares, and one racing/broodmare prospect. Overall the sale grossed $984,850, of which $960,050 was spent on yearlings. The yearlings averaged $11,567 and the sale-topper was a $70,000 Smiling Tiger colt bought by Brian Koriner on behalf of Samantha Siegel's Jay Em Ess Stable from the Critter Creek Farm consignment.Smiling Tiger has been the sire of this sale's top-priced horse for two of the past four years.
Following the strength of this year's 2-year-olds in training sales, North American yearling sales are poised to return at least to their 2019 levels. The WTBOA summer sale grossed $1,292,050 in 2019, with the 75 yearlings sold averaging $17,049. A Midshipman colt named Trumped topped the 2019 sale after Todd and Shawn Hansen went to $120,000.
