Canadian grade I winner Turallure was euthanized Nov. 14 after taking a bad step and shattering his right hind pastern during a gallop at Keeneland.

According to a tweet from Alicia Wincze Hughes of the Lexington Herald-Leader, the 6-year-old horse trained by Charles LoPresti was taken to Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital near Lexington where radiographs revealed the extent of the injury.

"When I saw the radiographs...I knew we weren't going to be able to save him," LoPresti told Hughes. "I haven't even digested it."

The winner of six of 26 starts, with eight placings and earnings of $1,378,997, Turallure had his best season in 2011 when he won the Woodbine Ricoh Mile (Can-IT), Bernard Baruch Handicap (gr. IIT), and Opening Verse Stakes, and finished second in the TVG Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT), all on grass. The son of Wando who raced for breeder Four D Stables was winless in 10 starts in 2012-13.
