Algorithms  , a 12-year-old stallion by Bernardini  , has been sold to Haras Rapetti in Uruguay to fill the spot in its roster left by the recent death of Majesticperfection .

"They wanted a stallion that was proven and produced runners with some speed," said Xavier Moreau, the owner of Moreau Bloodstock International who brokered the deal with agent Miguel Ezcurra. "We have been looking at stallions for the last four and half months and kept coming back to him."

Algorithms, unbeaten in three starts on the track and a grade 3 winner at a mile, has sired 12 black-type winners so far, including three graded stakes winners. His most accomplished runner to date is Pennsylvania Derby (G1) winner and millionaire Math Wizard , but most of his best runners have excelled at a mile or less. Recruiting Ready  won the Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes (G3), Chick Lang Stakes, and Bachelor Stakes all at six furlongs and placed in the seven-furlong Woody Stephens Stakes (G2). South Bend  won the Street Sense Stakes at a mile, while Rich Mommy  won the six-furlong Sugar Swirl Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park and was second in the seven-furlong Princess Rooney Stakes (G2).

Claiborne Farm near Paris, Ky., stood Algorithms since he retired to stud in 2013. The stallion is out of the multiple graded stakes producing Cryptoclearance daughter Ava Knowsthecode , making him a full brother to grade 1 winner Greenpointcrusader   and a half brother to grade 1 stakes winner Justin Phillip  (First Samurai  ), grade 2 winner Keyed Entry  (Honour and Glory), and grade 3 winner Successful Mission  (Successful Appeal).

Majesticperfection, a grade 1-winning son of Harlan's Holiday and the sire of grade 1 winner Bell's the One  and Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Lovely Maria , began his stud career Airdrie Stud. He was sold and sent to Uruguay for the 2018 breeding season. The stallion tragically developed laminitis and was euthanized in late January, according to Turf Diario.

Haras Rapetti also stands Posse , Midas Touch , Alexander of Hales , Fitzgerald , and two-time Uruguay Horse of the Year Gandhi Di Job.

Uruguayan breeders have been aggressively building up their stallion population. In April, a coalition of breeders purchased 2013 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands(G1) winner Orb  , who also stood at Claiborne.

"The Uruguayan breeders have been trying to improve the industry and doing things in the last few years, first with the arrival of Overanalyze  on shuttle and then sending mares to be bred on different countries in the region," said Sebastian Angelillo, a bloodstock agent who was involved in the deal to purchase Orb at the time the deal was announced.
