ThoroughBid, a company designed to be the UK's first dedicated online auction house for the buying and selling of Thoroughbreds, has been launched and will hold its first sale this summer.

Selling all categories of bloodstock from horses in training to broodmares, Cirencester-based ThoroughBid was set up last year by Ross Alberto and Will Kinsey and will provide vendors and purchasers with regular opportunities to trade all categories of bloodstock.

The benefits are said to include a secure entry and listing process, greater flexibility to host sales to suit market demand, and vendors' proceeds being made available seven working days from hammer fall. The vendor is to receive 100% of the hammer price, while the purchaser pays 5% commission.

Alberto said: "The launch of ThoroughBid is by no means a reaction to the way the world has been over the last year or so, but a project we've been working on for much longer.

"Our intuitive platform and dedicated approach to online sales sets us apart from existing operators, providing both vendors and purchasers easily accessible opportunities to trade at all levels."
