Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 308 entries for its New York Bred Yearlings Sale, scheduled for Aug. 15-16 in the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The Sunday, Aug. 15, session will begin at 7 p.m. ET, and the Monday, Aug. 16, session will begin at noon.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting the sales calendar in 2020, last year's New York Bred Yearlings Sale, The July Sale, and The Saratoga Sale were consolidated into the Selected Yearlings Showcase held in September at Fasig-Tipton's Lexington facility.
"We are thrilled to be conducting this sale back in Saratoga Springs—where it belongs—following last year's cancellation due to the pandemic," said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning Jr. "We annually offer the cream of the New York-bred yearling crop at this auction, and the quality of sire power and conformation on offer this year is most impressive."
The New York Bred Yearlings sale continues to climb the ranks in numerous performance categories, according to statistics recently released by BloodHorse MarketWatch. The sale is ranked among the top major North American yearling sales by percentage of grade 1 winners and stakes winners produced form horses sold, as well as average earnings per horse, and percentage of horses with earnings of more than $150,000.
"This strength of this sale's graduates in both the state-bred and national ranks is formidable, led by classic winner Tiz the Law ," Browning noted.
Tiz the Law, who won last year's Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1), Runhappy Travers Stakes (G1), and Curlin Florida Derby (G1), is prominently featured on this year's catalog cover. The Constitution colt was bred by Twin Creeks Farm and sold in 2018 to Jack Knowlton of Sackatoga Stable for $110,000 out of the Sequel New York consignment. Trained by Barclay Tagg, he earned more than $2.7 million on the track and entered stud this year at Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky.
Also featured on the catalog cover are Varda , winner of the 2020 Starlet Stakes (G1), and Brooklyn Strong , winner of the Remsen Stakes (G2) last December.
The catalog may now be viewed online and will also be available in the Equineline sales catalog app. Print catalogs are also now available.
