Following a successful opening weekend, Del Mar returns to action July 23 with an eight-race card that features the $175,000 Fleet Treat Stakes for 3-year-old California-bred or -sired fillies.
The nine lassies entered for the dash will compete over seven furlongs in the first of eight Cal-bred races at Del Mar that are part of the $4.35 million 2021 Golden State Series for registered California-bred or -sired horses.
The Fleet Treat, which will be having its 36th running, looks like a competitive affair with two of the fillies likely to draw the most attention—Fi Fi Pharoah and Closing Remarks . The latter is also entered in the July 24 San Clemente Stakes (G2T) at Del Mar.
Fi Fi Pharoah, a daughter of American Pharoah and trained by Walther Solis, enters the Fleet Treat off a last-to-first score in the 1 1/16-mile Melair Stakes June 19 at Santa Anita Park. The chestnut, owned by Tom Beckerle, Terry Lovingier (also the filly's breeder), and Amanda Navarro, cuts back in distance for the Fleet Treat. Umberto Rispoli rides.

The Vronsky filly Closing Remarks has made her last three starts against open company and all seven lifetime starts are on turf. The Harris Farms' homebred, trained by Carla Gaines, was runner-up in the April 3 Providencia Stakes (G3T) and May 1 Senorita Stakes (G3T) this spring.
