Twitter Accounts to Follow for the Florida Derby

The 68th edition of the Florida Derby will be contested this Saturday, and racing fans in the Sunshine State cannot contain their excitement for what is the biggest day on their racing calendar.  In order for you to stay as close as possible to all of the action at Gulfstream Park during Florida Derby week, below are 28 Twitter accounts you should follow:
1. @gulfstreampark:  The official Twitter account for Gulfstream Park, located in Hallandale Beach, Florida.  Gulfstream Park has hosted Thoroughbred racing since 1939.

2. @ABRLive:  The Twitter account for America’s Best Racing, where you will find interesting and diverse articles and photos featuring not only Gulfstream Park, but other major racetracks from around the country.

3. @ABRVTour:  This account is managed by the six America’s Best Racing Brand Ambassadors, and is another great place to find information about horse racing at Gulfstream Park and other North American racetracks. 

4. @larrycollmus:  At this account you will find tweets from Gulfstream Park track announcer Larry Collmus, who also calls races for the New York Racing Association and NBC.

5. @AnnouncerPete:  Plan on following Gulfstream racing after Florida Derby day is in the books?  Follow this account, which is run by Gulfstream Park’s summer track announcer Pete Aiello.

6. @DRFWelsch:  This is the official account for Mike Welsch, who is the South Florida correspondent for the Daily Racing Form.

7. @DRFLivingston:  if you have an appreciation for truly awesome racetrack photography, this is the account for you.  Barbara Livingston, who is the chief photographer for the Daily Racing Form, maintains this account.  She is active with great photos from around Gulfstream Park in the winter months.

8. @ronic17:  This is the official account for Gulfstream Park track handicapper Ron Nicoletti.  Make sure you follow him for terrific daily analysis of the races at Gulfstream!

9. @CatieStaszak:  This account is run by Catie Staszak, who is a racing analyst at Gulfstream Park.  She also hosts the Gulfstream Park replay show, which can be found every racing day on Gulfstream Park’s YouTube channel.

10. @CBossGulfstream: Christina Bossinakis, who is a paddock analyst at Gulfstream Park, runs this account.  Be sure to follow her for some fantastic insight regarding Gulfstream Park racing!

11. @CBredar:  This is the official account for TVG horse racing analyst Caton Bredar, who reports from Gulfstream Park during the Championship Meet.

12. @clementstable:  This is trainer Christophe Clement’s official Twitter account.  His horses are stabled at Payson Park, located in Indiantown, Florida and primarily race at Gulfstream Park during the winter. 

13. @GrahamMotion:  The official account for Thoroughbred trainer Graham Motion, whose horses often compete at Gulfstream Park during the Championship Meet.  His horses are stabled at Palm Meadows, located in Boynton Beach, Florida.  Graham Motion is the trainer of champion Main Sequence, who won the Mac Diarmada earlier in the Gulfstream Park Championship Meet.

14. @KPMRacingStable:  The Twitter account for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, who is also stabled at Palm Meadows in the winter and races frequently at Gulfstream Park. 

15. @Romansracing:  The official account for trainer Dale Romans, whose horses can often be found in Gulfstream Park races during the winter.  Romans is the trainer of Indianaughty, who is scheduled to compete in the 2015 Florida Derby.

16. @zitoracing:  Twitter account for Nick Zito, who has already trained three Florida Derby winners (High Fly, Ice Box, and Dialed In).  Zito also trains Quimet, who will try to give his trainer Zito’s fourth victory in the Florida Derby, which would prove to be the most wins for a trainer in the race’s history.

17. @ralphnks:  This is the official account for Thoroughbred trainer Ralph Nicks, who is always a force to be reckoned with on the South Florida racing scene.  His horses are stabled at Gulfstream Park and train there year-round.

18. @PWalderRacing:  Trainer Peter Walder runs this account, which features great information and photos from around Gulfstream Park and all of South Florida.  Walder’s Sr. Quisqueyano won the Sunshine Millions Classic earlier this year at Gulfstream.

19. @ljlmvel:  This is the official account for jockey John Velazquez, who is already in the horse racing Hall of Fame.  Velazquez has been a mainstay at Gulfstream Park during the winter for many years, and is scheduled to ride Materiality in the 2015 Florida Derby.

20. @jockeypacolopez:  Jockey Paco Lopez runs this account.  Lopez is currently third in the jockey standings for the 2014-2015 Gulfstream Park Championship Meet.

21. @bravoace:  This is the Twitter account for jockey Joe Bravo, who spends his winters riding at Gulfstream Park.  In the summer, Bravo can typically be found riding at Monmouth Park in New Jersey.

22. @JulienLeparoux:  This is the official account for jockey Julien Leparoux, who can be found riding at Gulfstream Park in the winter months.  Leparoux won the 2011 Florida Derby aboard Dialed In.

23. @zayas_edgardo:  This account is run by jockey Edgard Zayas, who is currently fourth in the jockey standings for the 2014-2015 Gulfstream Park Championship Meet.  Continue to keep an eye on Zayas in the coming months, as he absolutely dominated at Gulfstream in the summer of 2014.

24. @RamiroRestrepo:  Fasig-Tipton’s representative in South Florida, Ramiro Restrepo, runs this account.  Restrepo is also a Thoroughbred owner as part of the Thoroughbred Acquisition Group, who won a race at Gulfstream Park this past Saturday with Take Time to Pray.

25. @AntelizJr:  This account is run by Gonzalo Anteliz Jr., who is extremely active on the South Florida horse racing scene and consistently tweets amazing photos of Gulfstream Park racing.

26. @AdenaGrill:  This is the Twitter account for Adena Grill, which is one of the newest culinary additions to the Village at Gulfstream Park.

27. @FrankeysBar:  Headed to Gulfstream Park for the Florida Derby and want to catch some March Madness games as well?  Follow this account for information about Frankey’s Sports Bar, which is located near the Gulfstream Park walking ring and offers great food and drink as well as TVs featuring both horse racing and other sporting events.
