Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable's Power Agenda put away a stubborn Don't Wait Up along with eight other rivals to win his debut in wire-to-wire fashion Aug. 14 at Saratoga Race Course.
With Irad Ortiz Jr. up for trainer Todd Pletcher, the 2-year-old Nyquist colt led by a half-length through fractions of :22.27 and :45.70 on the fast main track. Don't Wait Up was fifth through the first quarter-mile after veering in at the start, but up into second by the half. When the field turned for home, Power Agenda dueled on the inside of Don't Wait Up. The two rubbed saddles close to the finish line, but Power Agenda dug in to prevail by a nose. He completed the six furlongs in 1:11.30.
Power Agenda was bred in Kentucky by Stoneway Farm. He is the first foal out of the Afleet Alex mare Dream Dance , who was second in the Twinspires.com Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) and Pocahontas Stakes (G2). His third dam is multiple graded stakes winner Katz Me If You Can and his fourth dam is grade 1 winner Cuddles. Dream Dance foaled a Distorted Humor filly in February and was reported bred to West Coast for 2022.
Repole Stable purchased Power Agenda for $120,000 out of the Paramount Sales consignment to the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The colt earned $55,000 for winning his first start.
