Wholelottamo wins the Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Louisiana Downs

Mo Tom  and El Deal , both freshman stallions standing at the Adcock family's Red River Farms in Coushatta, La., were represented by their first black-type winners Aug. 21 at Louisiana Downs.

In the second race of the day, Wholelottamo  took the $50,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies Stakes for Mo Tom, and two races later True Deal  eked out a victory in the $50,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile Stakes to represent El Deal. Both 2-year-olds were bred in Louisiana by Cloyce Clark Jr.

Thompson Racing's Wholelottamo became the first winner for Mo Tom one start prior at Lone Star Park in June. Jockey Timothy Thornton was up for trainer Scott Gelner Saturday. He settled Wholelottamo in third for the opening quarter and let his mount move up into second by the half. The filly then drove clear down the stretch to win by 2 1/2 lengths and completed the six furlongs, which were hand timed, on the fast track in 1:12.97. She paid $5.20 in the field of eight.

Wholelottamo is out of the stakes-placed A. P. Jet mare Jet's Tradition , also the dam of multiple stakes-placed Jet Majesty . She was purchased for $17,000 by Stephen Thompson from KP Sales Consignment at the 2020 Equine Sales of Louisiana Yearling Sale. From two wins and a third in three starts, she has earned $57,925.

Mo Tom is an 8-year-old graded stakes-winning son of Uncle Mo  . His top victories came in the Lecomte Stakes (G3) and Ohio Derby at 3, and he also won the Street Sense Stakes at 2. He stood the 2021 season for an advertised fee of $2,000.

Norman Stables' True Deal, off a July 10 maiden win at Evangeline Downs, took over after the opening quarter in the Juvenile, dueled for the lead, then prevailed by a neck. Ridden by Joe Stokes for trainer Lonnie Briley, the colt finished the six furlongs in 1:12.97 and returned $12.60 as the third choice in the field of nine. The Juvenile was also hand-timed.

The colt has two wins and a second from three starts and has earned $50,600.

El Deal is a 9-year-old son of Munnings  . El Deal won the Gold Fever Stakes at 3, but his best year came at age 5 when he took the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) and the Decathlon Stakes and was also second that year in the Vosburgh Stakes (G1). He stood in 2021 for an advertised fee of $2,500.
