Delaware Park’s live racing card rescheduled to be run Thursday, Sept. 2, has been cancelled due to additional rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Ida that affected the region late yesterday afternoon into last night and early this morning, the track reported Sept. 2.
Live racing is scheduled to resume Sept. 4. The first race post time will be 1:15 p.m.
The Wilmington, Del., track already received approval Aug. 18 from the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission to extend its live racing meet through Oct. 30. The four make-up dates were requested due to cancellations from excessive heat and three additional dates. The extended dates are Oct. 7, Oct. 20-21, Oct. 23, Oct. 27-28, and Oct. 30.
Per its original schedule, Oct. 7 had been scheduled as a dark day and Oct. 16 had been scheduled as closing day for the live racing meet.
Tornado and flash flood warnings were issued across the state Sept. 1, which was projected to receive two to four inches of rain.
