Mid-Atlantic trainer Amber Cobb has been banned from training or racing at racetracks or facilities operated by The Stronach Group's 1/ST Racing, according to a Sept. 11 statement. Cobb had already been suspended by the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission for abusing a horse in her care.

"In August, 1/ST Racing reviewed the video of the abhorrent conduct of Amber Cobb as presented to the Delaware Stewards and we immediately elected to permanently ban her from training and racing at our facilities," the statement read. "Cobb's actions are completely reprehensible and are totally out of line with 1/ST's commitment to safety, integrity, and accountability. 1/ST Racing believes that the care and safety of horses is the duty of all industry stakeholders. Individuals who abuse horses have no place in racing and certainly have no place at any 1/ST Racing venue."

Racetracks operated by 1/ST Racing include Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park in Maryland. Cobb made two starts during this year's Pimlico meet, which was extended due to the resurfacing of the dirt track at Laurel. Cobb also started horses at Laurel Park last fall.

1/ST Racing also operates Gulfstream Park in Florida, and Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields in California—located in states in which Cobb does not regularly compete.

A video of Cobb beating a horse tied up in a stall with a plastic pitchfork went viral this summer. The DTRC extended her 60-day suspension Sept. 10. Delaware stewards summarily suspended Cobb, meaning she cannot operate in Delaware until a hearing before the board of stewards.
