Description:

America’s Best Racing brand ambassador Jose Contreras – who puts his picks out for the public regularly on his own blog www.losponies.com - will help DerbyJackpot players with his insight in a regular blog feature for ABR.
Each week, Jose will give out his “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a “Monkey Bet” (a win bet) on DerbyJackpot, as well as his Lonshot Play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a Monkey Bet or to take a shot with “The Granny” (a show bet, or top-three finish).
Jose also will lay out either a quick-hitting Granny Parlay or a Gonzo Bet. The Granny Parlay essentialy is a bet in which players will have an opportunity to place one Granny bet after another on a sequence of four or five races within an hour or so of each other, essentially letting it ride as they go "all in" search of a nice return on investment. The idea of the parlay is to steadily grow your bankroll until you have a sizeable stash of cash to let it ride on the final leg for a nice payout. The Gonzo Bet requires players to select the first two finishers in a given race in order, the same as a traditional exacta bet.
Place your bets at DerbyJackpot. Races open for betting about five minutes before post time. It’s fun, it’s easy, and you can win cash. Open your account today.

Recap of Last Week
Saturday: The Best Bet won. The Longshot missed, finished fourth. We had the winner in the Gonzo but missed the second-place finisher.
Sunday: The Best Bet missed, finished third. The Longshot missed, finished fourth. We had the winner in the Gonzo but missed the second place finisher.
Saturday
Given the stakes races racing going on, I am going to focus on Win Bets for this week.
(Monkey Bets/Win Bets)
Aqueduct Race 2, 12:49 p.m. ET
#4 Free Mugatu: Won his debut this summer at Saratoga and then followed with another win in his next start. He was most recently seen finishing fourth at Finger Lakes after getting away to a slow start. He’s been given some time off and I think he is going to fire a big race just like he did in his debut.
Aqueduct Race 5, 2:16 p.m. ET
#5 Missy Bay: Although all of her starts have been on the turf, I believe she will handle the dirt just fine. I like her off-the-pace style against this field that looks to have two or three runners that might duel on the lead.
Aqueduct Race 6, 2:45 p.m. ET
#1 Kelli Got Frosty: She finished third in her first start since July and seems to be coming into this race in good shape. She has posted three solid workouts since her last race and arrives from high-percentage connections.
Aqueduct Race 8, 3:43 p.m. ET
#7 Smooth Bert: He finished fifth beaten less than four lengths against open competition. Today, he returns to state-bred company and his win two starts ago was a nice one. The second-place finisher was way clear of the third-place finisher (who returned to win in his next start). He has enough speed to take the lead or to sit a stalking trip.
Betfair Hollywood Park Race 8, 7:06 p.m. ET
#8 Beach Hut: Not only did he win his debut for top connections, he won by stalking a fast pace and pulling away late. I like that Juddmonte Farms, who breeds a lot of their runners, went out and bought this horse at the Keeneland sale. They must have liked this horse a lot, and I think he will show another big performance today.
Sunday
(Monkey Bets/Win Bets)
Aqueduct Race 8, 3:43 p.m. ET
#6 Innovation Economy: He won his debut with a stylish come-from-behind move to pull away late. Today, he faces a smaller field and I think he will be closer toward the middle of the pack. This trainer-jockey combination has been winning at a very high percentage.
Betfair Hollywood Park Race 7, 6:35 p.m. ET
#2 Spirit Rules: If you eliminate his seventh-place finish in his only turf start, his record would show three wins, one second, and two thirds. An even closer look shows three wins and one second (by a nose) on this Betfair Hollywood Park synthetic surface. He likes this track, he can be on the lead or close from behind, and is coming into this race with a very sharp win. I hope we get all of his 8-to-1 morning-line odds.
