Before she has a date at Fasig-Tipton in The November Sale, Crazy Beautiful has some business to finish on the racetrack. Phoenix Thoroughbred's three-time graded stakes winner headlines a field of seven 3-year-old fillies in action Oct. 1 at Churchill Downs in the $160,000 Seneca Overnight Stakes.
Trained by Kenny McPeek, Crazy Beautiful has recorded three victories from six starts in her 3-year-old campaign with wins in the $300,000 Delaware Oaks (G3), $200,000 Summertime Oaks (G2), and $200,000 Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2). The well-traveled filly by Liam's Map has competed at seven different racetracks since she began her in July of last year at Ellis Park. Most recently she ran sixth in the Alabama Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course.
Rigney Racing's Played Hard , fifth in the Alabama, also entered the Seneca Overnight Stakes. Her speed likely makes her the one to catch.
Unlike Played Hard, Crazy Beautiful has yet to record a win at Churchill Downs. In two starts, she ran into traffic problems when second in the Pocahontas Stakes (G3) last year and ran 10th in the Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) this spring.
Brian Hernandez Jr. has the mount from post No. 6 in the 1 1/16-mile race.
McPeek also starts Susan Moulton's Oliviaofthedesert , twice a winner of minor stakes races. Corey Lanerie rides the daughter of Bernardini.
