Arc Winner Torquator Tasso Moves up in World Rankings

Torquator Tasso (yellow silks) wins the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe

Following his dramatic victory in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1), Torquator Tasso , with a 125 rating, is the biggest mover in the eighth edition of the 2021 Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings.

Germany's Torquator Tasso proved game in the Arc, defeating Tarnawa  (120 rating) by three-quarters of a length at Longchamp to earn his improved rating and move into a tie for fourth in the rankings for Jan. 1-Oct. 10. Also boasting a 125 rating this year and tied for fourth in the rankings is Palace Pier , a three-time group 1 winner in 2021.

A trio of horses is tied atop the standings with ratings of 127: Cazoo Derby (G1) and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes (G1) winner Adayar , Saudi Cup, Longines Dubai Sheema Classic (G1), and Juddmonte International Stakes (G1) winner Mishriff , and four-time 2021 group 1 winner St Mark's Basilica , who has earned those wins in England, Ireland, and France.

The top-ranked horse based in the United States is Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1) and Whitney Stakes (G1) winner Knicks Go , who has a rating of 124 which is tied with Nature Strip —Australia's reigning Horse of the Year who has added two more group 1 wins in 2021—for sixth in the rankings.
