Description:

Winchell Thoroughbreds’ Untapable, who is coming off a shocking defeat at 1-10 in the Azeri Stakes (gr. II) March 14, demonstrated her sharpness March 30, working six furlongs in a blistering 1:10 4/5 at Oaklawn Park in preparation for the $600,000 Apple Blossom Handicap (gr. I) April 10.

Last year’s 3-year-old filly champion and winner of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff (gr. I) and Longines Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), was upset in the Azeri, won over a good track by Gold Medal Dancer, who defeated Untapable by a half-length.

Trainer Steve Asmussen also had his Oaklawn Handicap (gr. II) and Arkansas Derby (gr. I) hopefuls, Tapiture and Bold Conquest, respectively, out for works and the pair went their six furlongs in 1:12 1/5.

Tapiture is coming off an uncharacteristicallty poor effort, finishing a well-beaten fifth in the Razorback Handicap (gr. III) the same day as the Azeri.

Bold Conquest, coming off a third-place finish to American Pharoah in the Rebel Stakes (gr. II) and fourth in the Southwest Stakes (gr. III), is looking to pick up enough points to make it into the field for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) when he takes on American Pharoah again in the Arkansas Derby.
