Gun Runner at Three Chimneys Farm

Based on an extraordinarily strong launch as a freshman sire, Three Chimneys Farm's Gun Runner   will stand for $125,000 for the 2022 breeding season, the farm announced Oct. 20 along with its full roster and fees for next year.

Gun Runner, a son of Candy Ride   and 2017 Horse of the Year, has sired five black-type stakes winners so far, including undefeated multiple grade 1 Winner Echo Zulu , who won the Spinaway (G1) and Frizette (G1) stakes. He sired another grade 1 winner in Hopeful Stakes (G1) winner Gunite , as well as grade 2 winners Pappacap  and Wicked Halo .

The extraordinary exploits of his progeny have made Gun Runner the leading North American sire for his freshman sire class and also the leading sire of 2-year-olds. He is the leading sire of his class by stakes winners, graded stakes winners, and grade 1 winners. Through Oct. 20, he is the ninth-leading North American sire by yearling average (including only sires with three or more sold), with 46 yearlings sold averaging $325,087. His top seller was a colt out of Time to Tap, who sold for $975,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
