Crazy Beautiful on her way to victory in the Seneca Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs

A proven multiple graded stakes winner on dirt, Crazy Beautiful  will have an opportunity Oct. 29 to showcase her stakes talent on another surface, the turf.

Phoenix Thoroughbred III's Liam's Map   filly has made one previous start on grass, resulting in a 3 1/2-length maiden win on debut at Ellis Park in July 2020. Now she is among an overflow field for the $150,000 Rubicon Valley View Stakes (G3T) at Keeneland, which also drew undefeated grade 1 winner Lady Speightspeare  and recent Kentucky Downs stakes winners Tobys Heart  and Adventuring .

"She broke her maiden on it and there wasn't another 3-year-old filly race around," trainer Kenny McPeek said of entering Crazy Beautiful in the turf stakes. "She's continued to thrive and I thought 'let's give her another run on it.' I think it's all to gain, nothing to lose. It's a good level for her, grade 3 race, but she's been a really good filly."

On the first of the month at Churchill Downs, Crazy Beautiful dug in for a neck victory on the main track in the Seneca Overnight Stakes racing 1 1/16 miles, the same distance as the Valley View. She has four wins from six starts at the distance, including in this year's Delaware Oaks (G3), Summertime Oaks (G2), and Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2).

"She's just been a hard knocker from the get-go," McPeek said. "She's just been a real solid filly and continues to be. She's easy to be around, she loves to work every day, she loves to train, and run."

Brian Hernandez Jr. will return in the irons from post 3.

Crazy Beautiful is entered in The November Sale, Fasig-Tipton's marquee breeding stock sale Nov. 9 in Lexington. She is consigned by Denali Stud, agent, as Hip 153 and offered as a racing or broodmare prospect.

Also in the Valley View is Charles Fipke's lightly raced but undefeated Lady Speightspeare. The homebred daughter of Speightstown   was a late scratch in the Oct. 16 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Presented by Dixiana (G1T) at Keeneland after acting up in the gate.

Lady Speightspeare won her lone start of the season, a 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claimer on the Woodbine turf in September. It was her first start in nearly a year since capturing the Natalma Stakes (G1T) there.

Regular rider Emma-Jayne Wilson will be back aboard for trainer Roger Attfield in post 11.

Terry Hamilton, trainer Brian Lynch, and Gary Barber's Tobys Heart stretches back out after winning the Sept. 12 Nelson's Green Brier Whiskey Music City Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs. The Jack Milton   filly rallied past the field for a 2 3/4-length score in that Kentucky Downs event, her third career black-type win. She now seeks to make the grade. Joel Rosario has the call from post 4.

Godolphin's Adventuring also enters off a Kentucky Downs stakes win. The Brad Cox trainee, a winner of the Bourbonette Oaks on Turfway Park's Tapeta earlier this year, dueled throughout in the Sept. 5 Exacta Systems Dueling Grounds Oaks before putting away her rivals for a 1 3/4-length victory. Florent Geroux will ride the homebred Pioneerof the Nile filly from post 7.

EuroLindy Syndicate's Queenship  will make her U.S. debut in the Valley View. She has made four starts in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien, who has trained the Excelebration  daughter for three straight wins. Last out Queenship won the Sept. 28 Navigation Stakes racing a mile at Cork. Julien Leparoux will be aboard in post 12.

There is a threat of rain Oct. 28 and Friday in Lexington, which could leave the turf course less than firm.
