Although ungraded, the $150,000 Bryan Station Stakes on Keeneland's closing day drew a field worthy of a graded stakes-level competition. Thirteen sophomores drew into the Oct. 30 mile turf test, topped by Homewrecker Racing's grade 1 winner Point Me By , and grade 3 winners Like the King , Scarlett Sky , and Yes This Time .
Trained by Eddie Kenneally, the lightly raced Point Me By triumphed in Arlington International Racecourse's Bruce D. Stakes (G1T) Aug. 14 in his third career start. The Point of Entry colt was backed up to 6 1/2 furlongs in the Sept. 11 Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G2T) at Kentucky Downs and the bay lacked the same finishing punch that carried him to victory in the Bruce D.
Adam Beschizza, who piloted Point Me By to his debut at Churchill Downs in June, has the mount for the Bryan Station.
Edge Racing's Yes This Time, the narrow morning-line favorite over Like the King on Saturday, has won five of his last seven starts for trainer Kelly Breen. The son of Not This Time scored consecutive stakes wins in the May 8 English Channel Stakes at Gulfstream Park and July 3 Kent Stakes (G3T) at Delaware Park before finishing a troubled eighth when trying grade 1 company in the Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T). He bounced back with a solid runner-up effort to Accredit in the Sept. 5 Big Ass Fans Dueling Grounds Derby at Kentucky Downs over the marathon distance of 1 5/16 miles.
Scarlett Sky, a game winner of the Kentucky Utilities Transylvania Stakes (G3T) here in April, enters the Bryan Station off a five-month layoff for the Stuart S. Janney III/Shug McGaughey duo. In the colt's last trip to the post, he was ninth in the American Turf Stakes Presented by Derby City Gaming (G2T) on Derby Day.
One race before the Bryan Station, juvenile colts take to the main track in the $150,000 Bowman Mill Stakes. Robert and Lawana Low's My Prankster ships into town and will look to rebound off of a lackluster fourth- place finish in the Oct. 2 Champagne Stakes (G1). The $600,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale yearling purchase obliterated a field of maidens by 10 widening lengths in his Aug. 21 Saratoga Race Course 6 1/2-furlong debut. Trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, My Prankster earned a 95 Equibase speed number for his performance.
The Into Mischief colt returns to sprinting in the Bowman Mill and will be ridden by John Velazquez.
The eight-horse field includes graded stakes-placed Nakatomi , stakes winner Roger McQueen , and undefeated Steve Asmussen trainee Chattalot .
