John and Diane Fradkin's homebred Rombauer , winner of this year's Preakness Stakes (G1), has returned to trainer Michael McCarthy's Santa Anita Park barn.

"He's just jogging right now," said McCarthy. "He came in Oct. 18, and it's very good to have him back."

Rombauer has been away from the races since finishing third in the June 5 Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1). The 3-year-old son of Twirling Candy   won the May 15 Preakness by 3 1/2 lengths at 11-1 odds over Midnight Bourbon , with Medina Spirit  third. Rombauer also captured this year's El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields. His Preakness win was the first classic score for the Fradkins, his trainer, and his Lane's End sire.

The fourth foal to race out of the Cowboy Cal mare Cashmere and her first stakes winner, Kentucky-bred Rombauer has a 3-1-2 record from eight starts, with earnings of $1,040,500. His resume includes a second in the 2020 American Pharoah Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita and a third in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G2) at Keeneland behind Essential Quality   and Highly Motivated

Rombauer will stay in McCarthy's barn at Santa Anita during the upcoming Del Mar meet, and the trainer said he doesn't have a specific goal in mind at this point for the colt's return to the races.

"It would be nice if we could get to a race like the Dubai World Cup (G1)," McCarthy said. "It's up to the horse."
