Rattle N Roll , winner of the Oct. 9 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (G1) last out at Keeneland for the Mackin family's Lucky Seven Stable, will miss the Nov. 5 TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G1) at Del Mar with an apparent minor issue in his left hind foot.
Marty McGee of Daily Racing Form first reported the news Oct. 31, which trainer Ken McPeek confirmed to BloodHorse Sunday afternoon. The Connect colt worked Oct. 30 over a sloppy track at Churchill Downs, where he was clocked in 1:02 2/5, but developed the issue Sunday morning.
"It looks like a foot bruise; we think it's something simple," McPeek said. "Might be an abscess that's trying to pop out. Look, he's a young horse and it was an easy enough decision. The owners are all fine with it and hopefully it's something we can get sorted out quickly."
Rattle N Roll was considered among the top choices for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile on the virtue of his impressive Futurity score off a similarly facile maiden win Sept. 23 at Churchill in his third start.
Bred by St. Simon Place out of the Johannesburg mare Jazz Tune, he was a $210,000 purchase by McPeek from Paramount Sales, agent's consignment to the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
