Tamaroak Partners' Bango has already collected three stakes wins this season, two at Churchill Downs, and he returns to the Louisville, Ky., track in search of another one in the $300,000 Bet on Sunshine Stakes Nov. 6.
The main-track event is run at six furlongs, a distance at which the 4-year-old Congrats colt has won five times from eight attempts, including the May 29 Aristides Stakes at Churchill. He rallied from ninth in that event, though typically races closer to the pace. Following the Aristides, Bango won the Kelly's Landing Stakes at seven furlongs on the same track, then took the Good Lord Stakes at Ellis Park by five lengths racing 6 1/2 furlongs. Trained by Greg Foley, Bango will try to improve from a third-place finish in the Sept. 18 Louisville Thoroughbred Society Stakes at Churchill.
WSS Racing and 4 G Racing's Mucho finished a nose behind Bango in the Kelly's Landing and returns in the Bet on Sunshine after a third-place effort in the Oct. 8 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (G2) at Keeneland. John Ortiz trains the 5-year-old son of Blame , who captured the July 31 Challendon Stakes at Pimlico Race Course and was second beaten a head in the Aug. 23 Chesapeake Stakes at Colonial Downs.
Also in the field of eight is Necker Island , who steps back up to stakes after a 4 1/4-length allowance-level win in the slop at Churchill Oct. 3, and California invader Vertical Threat .
