A young Tapit mare started the first Book 2 session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale moving in a positive direction Nov. 11 when GMP Stables, WinStar Farm as agent, went to $475,000 to land Sixth Street (Hip 248) from the consignment of Lane's End.
Racing for Don and Donna Adam's Courtlandt Farms, Sixth Street, a 4-year-old daughter of Tapit—Sindy With an S , by Broken Vow , won a maiden race at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots early this year and placed in an allowance race at Sam Houston Race Park. As a yearling she sold for $525,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Bred in Kentucky by Gainesway, Sixth Street is believed to be in-foal to Twirling Candy .
One of six winners out of grade 3 winner Sindy With an S, Sixth Street is a full sister to stakes winner and grade 2-placed My Miss Tapit , grade 3-placed I'll Wrap It Up , and grade 3-placed Rattataptap . The latter is the dam of Double Thunder (Super Saver ), who won this year's Bashford Manor Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs and finished second in the Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (G1) at Keeneland.
Broodmares and broodmare prospects by Gainesway's leading sire Tapit are off to strong start at the Keeneland November, with Sixth Street being the seventh sold among a group averaging $849,286. Sixth Street is also the highest-priced mare sold in foal to Twirling Candy so far at the sale. Twirling Candy, who stands at Lane's End, ranks among the top 10 sires by progeny earnings this year and has sired eight stakes winners in 2021, including Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Rombauer .
Allaire Ryan, sales director at Lane's End Farm, said Sixth Street made an impression ahead of the sale.
"She is a beautiful, young mare; was really well received in the barn," Ryan said. "The family is successful and active. She's in foal on an early cover to an attractive sire (Twirling Candy). All the puzzle pieces were there."
Sindy With an S won the 2007 Safely Kept Breeders' Cup Stakes (G3) at Laurel Park.
Ryan saw good signs as the sale begins its first of two Book 2 sessions.
"Today the foot traffic in the barns is good, the market is very buoyant, there is plenty of energy, and a good variety of people around," Ryan said. "There are plenty of international buyers around. It's going to feel good today."
