Red Oak Stable and Madaket Stables' Mind Control , scratched from the Nov. 6 Big Ass Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Del Mar after running a temperature, is recovering at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital in Southern California and will not race until 2022, Red Oak racing manager Rick Sacco told TVG.
In a Nov. 11 interview with TVG's Scott Hazelton at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, Sacco said the horse is "thriving" and would leave in about five days to travel to Red Oak Farm near Ocala.
"We're going to point for the Carter (G1)," a seven-furlong race at Aqueduct Racetrack in early spring, he told TVG.

Mind Control, a 5-year-old son of Stay Thirsty , is a multiple grade 1 winner, having captured the Hopeful Stakes (G1) at 2 and the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1) at 3. His last start was a victory in the Sept. 25 Parx Dirt Mile Stakes, which boosted Mind Control's earnings to more than $1.4 million. He has raced for trainer Todd Pletcher since the summer.
"There was great interest from Kentucky farms, and there is interest from Japanese investors who wanted to stand him as a stallion, but speaking to Steve Brunetti (of Red Oak Stables) and Sol Kumin (of Madaket Stables), they're game," Sacco added. "They like to go out to the races, and we're going to run him again next year."
