Pride Of Dubai Battles to Inglis Sires Win

Pride Of Dubai prevailed in a tight finish, with a dead heat for second in the AUS$1 million Inglis Sires (Aus-I) April 6 on The Championships Day 1 card at Royal Randwick.
 
Pride Of Dubai defeated Odyssey Moon and Ragesse, who finished on equal terms three-quarters of a length back in the race for 2-year-olds. The winner battled with Ragesse with 200 meters to run and gamely dug in to get the win.
 
The final time for 1,400 meters (about seven furlongs) was 1:25.72 on soft turf.
 
Pasadena Girl took the early lead from English, with Pride Of Dubai and Ready For Victory up close. As the field bunched for the dash to the finish Pride Of Dubai, ridden by Hugh Bowman, and Rageese burst from the pack on even terms, with Pride Of Dubai eventually gaining the upper hand.
 
English, the favorite in the 10-hosre field, finished sixth.
 
Bred in Australia and raced by Sheikh Mohammad bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, the son of Street Cry is now also owned by Coolmore Stud, China Horse Club Racing Ltd., and Emmaroo Bloodstock.
 
Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Pride Of Dubai came into the Inglis Sires with a victory in the Blue Diamond (Aus-I) Feb. 21 at Caulfield. Monday's win improves his record to 2-1-1 from four career starts.
 
Pride Of Dubai is out of Australian stakes-placed Al Anood, by Danehill and is from the family of group I-winning sprinter and prominent sire Invincible Spirit.
