Dreaminofpassion breaks her maiden at Woodbine

Dreaminofpassion  became the first winner for freshman sire Passion for Action  when he won a maiden claiming race at Woodbine Nov. 18.

A first-time starter for trainer Andrew Smith, Dreaminofpassion ($18.80) was rated third of 12 early in the fifth race for maidens racing for a CA$15,000 claiming price at Woodbine on Thursday. The 2-year-old filly moved into second by midstretch before pulling away by three lengths under Corey Jordan. Dreaminofpassion raced 5 1/2 furlongs on the Tapeta main track in 1:05.75.

She earned CA$31,228 for owner/breeder Joey Gee Thoroughbreds.

A sovereign finalist for champion male sprinter in 2016, Passion for Action was a graded stakes winner on the turf and synthetic. The now 9-year-old son of Speightstown   hit the board in 11 of 23 races, earned $628,519. A black-type winner at 2 in the Cup and Saucer Stakes, he added the Highlander Stakes (G2T) and Vigil Stakes (G3) as an older horse in 2016.

He was retired by owner Benjamin Hutzel and trainer Michael P. De Paulo after a winless season in 2017. He entered stud in 2018.

Dreaminofpassion was the seventh starter for her sire and became his leading money earner with her Thursday victory. Another one of his juveniles, seven-time starter Infinite Passion , has a third-place finish to her credit.

Out of the Stormy Atlantic  mare Maritime Passion , Passion for Action stands at Colebrook Farms Stallion Station in Ontario for CA$3,000.
