Rattle N Roll , who missed a scheduled start in the Nov. 5 TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G1) at Del Mar because of a left hind foot setback, is set to return to training next week, trainer Kenny McPeek said. The 2-year-old has been sidelined this month.
The son of Connect , who captured the Claiborne Breeders' Futurity (G1) in his previous start Oct. 9 at Keeneland, will likely winter in Florida, his trainer said. Rattle N Roll is one of 22 individual betting interests in this week's first Kentucky Derby Future pool, where he is listed at morning-line odds of 15-1.
"We'll consolidate a lot of our best horses down there (in Florida) and get ready for some spring racing," McPeek said.
Owned by the Mackin family's Lucky Seven Stable, Rattle N Roll lost his first two starts before winning consecutive races in Kentucky during the fall. Prior to his Breeders' Futurity victory, he captured a maiden race at Churchill Downs Sept. 23, with both wins coming at 1 1/16 miles around two turns. He has earnings of $379,460.
Bred in Kentucky by St. Simon Place, Rattle N Roll is the lone winner from four foals out of the Johannesburg mare Jazz Tune . He was a $210,000 purchase by McPeek from the Paramount Sales consignment at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
