Talk to Ya Later became the first winner for freshman sire Perfect Timber when the 2-year-old filly broke her maiden Nov. 27 at Woodbine.
By Perfect Soul , grade 1-placed Perfect Timber stands at Colebrook Farms Stallion Station in Ontario, where his 2022 fee is CA$2,500 live foal. Charles Fipke bred both stallions and Talk to Ya Later, a CA$5,000 (US$3,832) purchase by Jim Menzies from the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Ontario Division)'s 2020 Canadian-Bred Yearling Sale.
Debuting for Piano Bar Racing and trainer Ian Black, Talk to Ya Later broke in from post 7 in a field of 11 and bumped with a rival at the start of a 6 1/2 furlong maiden contest worth CA$65,362. With Emma-Jayne Wilson in the irons, the filly raced sixth as Sacred Dancer showed the way through opening fractions of :22.40 and :44.84. Advancing four wide on the turn, Talk to Ya Later moved into range into the stretch and got by at the forty-yard marker en route to a 1 1/2-length score. The final time on the all-weather track was 1:18.03.
Sacred Dancer held for second, 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Pleasure's Gold in third.
