The Dec. 4 $150,000 Mistletoe Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Oaklawn Park could very well be the coming out party for Juddmonte Farm's Amendment Nineteen . In her last start, the Constitution filly drew clear to a two-length score in a salty Churchill Downs allowance contest over Gainesway Stable and Andrew Rosen's Bees and Honey . While Amendment Nineteen shipped west to Hot Springs with trainer Brad Cox's Oaklawn string, the latter proceeded to journey eastward and roll to a convincing victory in last weekend's Comely Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct Racetrack.
Even before her run-in with Bees And Honey, Amendment Nineteen has knocked heads against stakes quality competition. After breaking her maiden this past May at Belmont Park for trainer Linda Rice, she was second in an allowance at Saratoga Race Course to eventual Lexus Raven Run Stakes (G2) victress Caramel Swirl . Transferred to the Cox barn, Amendment Nineteen then was beaten a head for second, three lengths behind the victorious Lady Mystify , in the Sept. 26 Remington Park Oaks (G3) in her first foray into stakes company.
Florent Geroux retains the mount on Amendment Nineteen.
Cox has also entered Madaket Stables, Wonder Stables, and 4K2 Stables' Marion Francis in the 10-horse Mistletoe. Another daughter of Constitution, the twice stakes-placed Marion Francis boasts a record of 3-3-3 from 10 starts and like her stablemate, draws into the race off a recent allowance win, hers at Keeneland. Francisco Arrieta rides.
