Description:

America’s Best Racing brand ambassador Jose Contreras – who puts his picks out for the public regularly on his own blog www.losponies.com - will help DerbyJackpot players with his insight in a regular blog feature for ABR.
Each week, Jose will give out his “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a “Monkey Bet” (a win bet) on DerbyJackpot, as well as his Lonshot Play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a Monkey Bet or to take a shot with “The Granny” (a show bet, or top-three finish).
Jose also will lay out either a quick-hitting Granny Parlay or a Gonzo Bet. The Granny Parlay essentialy is a bet in which players will have an opportunity to place one Granny bet after another on a sequence of four or five races within an hour or so of each other, essentially letting it ride as they go "all in" search of a nice return on investment. The idea of the parlay is to steadily grow your bankroll until you have a sizeable stash of cash to let it ride on the final leg for a nice payout. The Gonzo Bet requires players to select the first two finishers in a given race in order, the same as a traditional exacta bet.
Place your bets at DerbyJackpot. Races open for betting about five minutes before post time. It’s fun, it’s easy, and you can win cash. Open your account today.

Recap of Last Week
Saturday: We got shut out. Tough trips.
Sunday: We also got shut out on another tough day.
Saturday
Given the stakes races racing going on, I am going to focus on Win Bets for this week.
(Monkey Bets/Win Bets)
Aqueduct, Race 6, 2:22 p.m. ET
#4 America: I like the way she improved in her second start when running on the dirt for the first time. She ran mid-pack and pulled away to a nice win. She has plenty of room to get better, and I think we are going to see a big run from her again. She’s 5-to-1 on the morning line.
Aqueduct, Race 7, 2:51 p.m. ET
#4 My Happy Face: She has a nice record, comes into this race after running in three consecutive Grade 1 races, and the last time she ran on this track she won the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes. Jockey Joel Rosario knows her well and she can either go to the lead or come from off the pace. She’s 7-to-2 on the morning line.
Aqueduct, Race 8, 3:20 p.m. ET
#8 Goldencents: This is a spectacular field, and it is setting up to be a great race. Tough to knock this Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner. He’s always shown good efforts, running between six furlongs and a mile across all his races. I like his post position toward the outside of the field. I will also use Clearly Now and Verrazano in exactas.
Sunday
(Monkey Bets/Win Bets)
Betfair Hollywood Park, Race 6, 6:04 p.m. ET
#9 Rookie Sensation: I have followed this horse since his maiden-breaking score in his second start and have seen his progress after switching to the turf. He broke through with a nice win in the Grade 2 Twilight Derby on Breeders’ Cup Friday. He’s facing a tough group today but his steady improvement suggests he’s heading the right direction and it’s tough not to like his odds of 9-to-2 on the morning line.
Betfair Hollywood Park, Race 8, 7:05 p.m. ET
#5 Tiz Flirtatious: She had a tough trip in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf when finishing sixth - beaten by about two lengths - in the field of ten. She finished a fast-closing second in this race last year and has a very consistent record under her belt. Jockey Joel Rosario reunites with her today and has won with her before. She looks to have two solid workouts leading up to this race.
