Super Stock will return to action at Oaklawn Park, this site of his April 10 Arkansas Derby (G1) victory, for the $150,000 Poinsettia Stakes run at 1 1/16 miles Dec. 11. His first work back over the track came Sunday when he breezed a half-mile in :52 1/5.
Erv Woolsey and Keith Asmussen's 3-year-old Dialed In colt has won two of his six races since his top-level score. On Nov. 23, Super Stock captured the Zia Park Derby. That was two starts after he took the Aug. 15 Runhappy Ellis Park Derby. He was third in the Sept. 26 Oklahoma Derby (G3) in between those wins. Luis Contreras has the call from trainer Steve Asmussen Saturday from post 4.
The Poinsettia attracted six other 3-year-olds, among them Jerry Namy's Nov. 13 Delta Mile Stakes winner Flash of Mischief . The Into Mischief colt finished second, a half-length ahead of Super Stock, in the Oklahoma Derby following a score in the Aug. 28 St. Louis Derby Sponsored by FanDuel Sportsbook. Karl Broberg trains Flash of Mischief, who will be ridden by Ramon Vazquez from post 3.
Nice Guys Stables, Manganaro Bloodstock, and Steve Hornstock's Defeater , sixth in the Oklahoma Derby, came back to romp by 7 1/4 lengths when rallying in a Nov. 10 one-mile allowance at Churchill Downs. Tom Amoss trains the lightly-raced Union Rags colt. Ricardo Santana Jr. will ride from post 2.
Last Samurai and Myopic —both grade 3-placed—multiple stakes-placed Ram and Simovitch complete the field.
