Second-crop sire Slumber and incoming stallion and grade 1 winner Combatant headline a six-horse roster for 2022 at Rockridge Stud near Hudson, N.Y. Both will stand for a $7,500 fee, live foal stands and nurses.
Among New York's second-crop stallions, Slumber rates in the top three by earnings and is tied for first by number of black-type winners with two along with the late Effinex. The son of Cacique is the only horse in that group to sire a graded stakes winner this year; his daughter Fluffy Socks won the Sands Point Stakes (G2) in October and placed in the Del Mar Oaks (G1T) in August. Slumber's juvenile son Sy Dog is 2-for-2 after winning the Nov. 27 Central Park Stakes.
Combatant , a son of Scat Daddy, retired from racing this year with a 4-5-6 record in 30 starts and earned over $1 million. His biggest victory came in the 2020 Santa Anita Handicap (G1).
Disco Partner 's first crop hit the ground this year and he will stand for $4,000 in 2022. The Disco Rico horse set a world record for six furlongs in 1:05.67 in the 2017 Jaipur Invitational (G1T).
Frank Conversation , whose first crop will hit the track next year, will stand for $3,500. Al Khali and A Shin Forward will each stand for $2,500.
Rockridge will host a stallion show and open house Saturday, Jan. 29 from 12-2 p.m. ET.
