DerbyJackpot’s Best Bets of the Weekend for April 11-12

America’s Best Racing and DerbyJackpot team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo or Cory Moelis – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet.
The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity to bet a trifecta or superfecta.

This Weekend’s Bets
Saturday
Oaklawn Park, Race 7, Oaklawn Handicap, 4:56 p.m. ET
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
#3 Tapiture: I really do believe Tapiture is the best horse in this race. He came off a long layoff last time on a wet track, and I think those factors contributed to his poor effort. The good news is, that should help his price here. 
Oaklawn Park, Race 9, 6:05 p.m. ET
Exacta Box (Gonzo Bet)
#8 Hottap: An expensive purchase as a yearling, Hottap has finally started to find his game. Last time out, he found himself wide off a slow pace and decided to try an early move to secure better position. He got tired at the end but he ran big that day and continues to improve.
#12 Kenjiislucky: He showed good speed in his debut and then came back with an impressive third-place finish. Stretching out for the first time and drawing a difficult outside post, he will have to gain good position into the first turn. The price should be worth the risk.
Sunday
Keeneland Race Course, Race 5, Appalachian Stakes, 3:09 p.m. ET
Longshot Bet (Granny Bet) 
#7 Mizz Money: The horse just inside, Lady Eli, will be a deserving heavy favorite in here. She will be coming from out of it and the logical speed is Sunset Glow, who should be able to get an easy early lead. Mizz Money  from the outside post should be able to get a good stalking trip sitting second or third and have a chance to pounce before Lady Eli.
Keeneland Race Course, Race 9, 5:13 p.m. ET
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
#2 V V Goodnight: She is a deep closer who has been facing tougher competition. She was given a layoff after her last race and should come back here fresh. It was a much-needed break given how often she had been running, and I expect her to come back with her best. I'm hoping we can get a nice price on her, too.
