The Jockey Club, the breed registry for North American Thoroughbreds, announced Dec. 17 it will increase each category of registration application fee by $20 starting in 2022.

This will be the first such increase since the 2013 foal crop. No other registry-related fees will be changed.

The fee to register a foal as stated in the current fee schedule also covers naming, provided a valid attempt to claim a name is received prior to Feb. 1 of the 2-year-old year; the correction of a certificate of foal registration, within six months of the date of issue, if necessary; subsequent transfers of ownership; reissuance of a genetic typing kit for untestable samples; and such other matters and services as The Jockey Club shall, in its sole discretion, from time to time determine.

Founded in 1894 and dedicated to the improvement of Thoroughbred breeding and racing, The Jockey Club, directly or through subsidiaries, provides support and leadership on a wide range of important industry initiatives, and serves the information and technology needs of owners, breeders, media, fans, and farms.
