Point Me By wins the Bruce D. Stakes at Arlington International Racecourse

After hosting six stakes Dec. 26, Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots scales back Dec. 27, though only just. Five $75,000 stakes, linked in a 50-cent Pick 5, conclude the 10-race program Monday.

The stakes emphasis is mainly on races for 2-year-olds and grass contests for late-season 3-year-olds, with the one exception being the Joseph E. "Spanky" Broussard Memorial Stakes, a race for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up, at a mile and 70 yards. The other races are the Sugar Bowl Stakes (2-year-olds) and Letellier Memorial Stakes (2-year-old fillies), both at six furlongs on dirt, and the Pago Hop Stakes (3-year-old fillies) and Woodchopper Stakes (3-year-olds) at a mile on turf.

Gary and Mary West's multiple graded stakes winner Concert Tour  is the most high-profile horse entered Monday, favored at 3-1 on the morning line in the Woodchopper, though he is expected to scratch. Winner of the San Vicente Stakes (G2) and Rebel Stakes (G2) earlier this year for trainer Bob Baffert, he now races for trainer Brad Cox, who told Daily Racing Form's Marcus Hersh the Street Sense   colt only runs if the Woodchopper is moved from turf to dirt.

Dry weather is forecast in New Orleans leading up to Monday, suggesting that scenario is unlikely.

Homewrecker Racing's Point Me By , who took a light renewal of the Bruce D. Stakes (G1T) (formerly the Secretariat) this summer at Arlington International Race Course, is a leading player on turf. The Eddie Kenneally trainee ran seventh in the Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G2T) at Kentucky Downs and sixth in the Bryan Station Stakes at Keeneland in two starts since the Bruce D.

Who Took The Money pulls away in the Louisiana Champions Day Turf at Fair Grounds

The opposition includes Allied Racing Stable's Who Took the Money , a quick returnee for trainer Bret Calhoun after romping by 5 3/4 lengths in the Louisiana Champions Day Turf against state-bred older horses Dec. 11 at Fair Grounds.

In March, he also captured the Crescent City Derby Stakes on the local main track. Perfect in four starts against Louisiana-breds, he is 1-for-4 in open races, with those starts in allowance company.

Calhoun also entered William Reed's Excess Magic , a second-level allowance optional claiming victor Nov. 26 who was second in the Texas Turf Mile Stakes in January at Sam Houston Race Park.

Adam Beschizza rides Point Me By, Deshawn Parker has the mount on Who Took the Money, and Reylu Gutierrez is aboard Excess Magic.

Remaining morning-line favorites on the Monday card include Jim Bakke and Gerry Isbister's Girl With a Dream  in the Letellier Memorial; Stud Los Leones' stakes-winning Cheetara  in the Broussard Memorial; Bradley Thoroughbreds, Tim and Anna Cambron, and Kurz Equine Investments' Arm Candy  in a contentious Pago Hop, and David Campbell, Douglas Arnold, Marc Winston, and David Clement's Higher Standard  in the Sugar Bowl.
