Heavy rains of more than an inch projected for Wednesday, Dec. 29, have caused Santa Anita Park to cancel racing for Thursday, Dec. 30.

The National Weather Service has forecast the rain to be heaviest on Wednesday and continuing through Thursday morning. Friday's forecast is a mix of sun and clouds.

Live racing will return Friday, Dec. 31, but three turf stakes races slated for Thursday have been moved to the weekend when the weather should be much improved. The Robert J. Frankel Stakes (G3), a 1 1/8-mile race for fillies and mares 3 years old and up, will be run Jan. 1, with the two one-mile 2-year-old turf stakes—the Eddie Logan Stakes and the Blue Norther Stakes—to be held on Jan. 2.

Nominees for the Robert J. Frankel include George Krikorian's homebred grade 1 winner Mucho Unusual , LNJ Foxwoods' multiple grade 1-placed winner Luck , and grade 1-placed stakes winner Dogtag .

Starters in the Eddie Logan could include stakes winner Boise , owned by Jason Hall, Scot Herbertson, and Sheldon Steinmetz; grade 1-placed Godolphin homebred Degree of Risk ; and, Doppleganger, an Into Mischief   colt owned by SF Racing, Starlight Racing, and Madaket Stables who won his debut by 3 1/2 lengths Dec. 11.
